Status Report - Week 43 2026
Real life
We had an awesome vacation week, in spite of less-than-excellent weather.
We started out in Paris, where Lyla was supposed to have a one-day event at the ENS Paris-Saclay, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the student strikes throughout France. It should normally be rescheduled to February, hopefully at a date that works for us - fingers crossed.
Instead, we made our own tour of great engineering schools in the area: ENS, Polytechnique and École des Mines:

We then visited the "maths museum" at Institut Poincaré, that was excellent

followed by the Musée minéralogique at les Mines de Paris, that was great as well

We then had one shopping day in Troyes, and moved towards the east to do a few hikes.
We stopped at Colombey-les-Deux-Églises to see the Général de Gaulle's tomb and memorial

We stayed in Belfort in the weekend,

and since the weather was pretty bad, we visited the Electropolis Museum

and the Musée National de l'Automobile in Mulhouse.
On the reading front, I continued reading A certain idea of France, and, for once, nothing else :-)
I only ran on Monday, doing my last long run (25.01 km) before the marathon on November 1st. And I took a break from GeoGuessr, only playing the daily challenge.

I barely touched my laptop, only submitting a workaround for aerc lint issues with Go 1.27 and babysitting sr.ht-integration-testing's daily test runner. In particular I had to resurrect the VM that ran out of disk space because of an issue I fixed here.
