Status Report - Week 33 2026

Aug 17, 2026

Real life

As we get slowly closer to "back to school", we continue to focus on two of the 3 pillars of elite athletes (along with training): eating and resting :-)

Lyla and I have been doing a bit of maths together - complex numbers this week - which got me to write a bit of LaTeX, something I really liked to do 25+ years ago. Time will tell how long I keep adding things there, but what I wrote can be found here.

Other than that, I finished The price of inequality, that resonates a lot and does not look like it was written 15 years ago... I also started reading The best and the brightest, and continued Maths MP-MP* - Tout-en-un.

I ran 23.32 km, and played quite a few duels at GeoGuessr, winning 35 out of 75. Pretty mediocre, but good enough to stay in Master IV.

Open source

I did not work on SourceHut this week, but intend to next.

In my "going back to writing LaTeX" adventures, I started the IDE I had used and contributed to in the past, Kile after 25 years. It looks to be still alive, so I forked and built it just for fun... which got me to send two tiny patches: silence some warnings and update the copyright year.
