Status Report - Week 32 2026

Real life

We continue being in "vacation mode", with none of us doing much. Let's say we recharge our batteries after the exhaustion of travelling (-:

One productive thing happened though: we've been having internet instabilities at home for a little while now, and since things got worse since we're back (we more or less had to reboot the box every morning), I asked Ziggo to come over. The technician they sent was very good, and things were solved in 15 minutes: the box was not plugged to the main entry point, and via some plug that allegedly cuts half of the signal. We found the main entry point and plugged the box there with a brand new cable, and things seem to be very good ever since - knock on wood.

I asked the technician why things seem to have gone worse recently, and his hypothesis is that Ziggo are changing some frequencies upstream, and that accessing the signal via some legacy cable / plug causes the instability. I don't know enough to know whether it's plausible or BS, but at least there was some kind of explanation :-)

I took the kids to watch De Gaulle at the cinema, and we really loved that film. We're looking forward to part 2 going out in the Netherlands.

I have finally finished reading Récoltes et semailles II. It's a 1957 page reflection on the mathematics community, life and lots of random things by a clearly deranged and bitter genius who rants a lot - I liked it a lot :-)

And while I resume reading/working on Maths MP-MP* - Tout-en-un, I also started reading The price of inequality.

Finally, I resumed running, with 25.92 km, as well as playing duels at GeoGuessr. It was a poor week with only 16 wins out of 36 (and a demotion back to Master IV), not surprising since I have not really played for almost one month.

Open source

I did a bit of work on the SourceHut ecosystem:

• I noticed a brain fart in my patch to migrate existing hub webhooks to Go, and submitted a fixed version.
• I investigated why some of the sr.ht-integration-testing builds did not have their artifacts saved in spite of my recent patch to do it even for failed builds. Even though I could not reproduce the issue for lack of a fully functional builds.sr.ht in sr.ht-container-compose, I believe (and hope) that this patch will fix the issue.
