Status Report - Week 26 2026
Real life
It's been a very warm week here in the Netherlands, and a good reminder that I don't operate well under heat :-) It's been a drag for me to do anything, and it's great that temperatures are starting to drop.
For the first time in my life, I managed to lose my wallet. It's super easy these days to block and replace debit / tram / ... cards so it's almost a non-event, but I have to wonder if my age is starting to show :-)
Apart from that, I am happy to report that I have not dropped the ball (yet) on my idea to resume doing some maths. I did not do that much, but managed to study and do a few exercises every day \o/
My reading has also switched towards mathematics: I have finished the first tome of Récoltes et semailles - that I had started in... September 2024 - and started the second one right away. In parallel, I read Bourbaki: Une société secrète des mathématiciens, which was good though not extraordinary.
I did not run much (13.42 km) because of the heat, and had a light but good week at GeoGuessr, winning 7 of my 12 duels.
Open source
I have resurrected a 25-year-old toy project around mathematics (to be fair, the only thing I resurrected is its name because I have long lost all the code :-)). There's very little code at the moment and the capabilities are super underwhelming, but depending on how things go, I might make it public and talk about it in this section some time in the future. We'll see.
I did a tiny bit of work on the SourceHut ecosystem:
- Submitted a patch for builds.sr.ht to also save artifacts, if any, for failed builds. This is something I'd love to have to track sr.ht-integration-testing test failures, and was actually discussed on the mailing list 3 years ago.
- Sent a patch to hut for its export to also save build artifacts, if any, and another one to allow downloading individual build artifacts.
