Status Report - Week 19 2026
Real life
It's been yet another quiet week at home.
The main highlight is that I filed my French taxes; it's not difficult and I don't have much to report (the vast majority is in our Dutch tax filing, that we get someone to do for us), but it's still a big bore. I am very happy it's behind me for a year now :-)
I have finished reading Rhinocéros, received and therefore instantly started Fundamental of physics II, as well as Huge numbers. I also read Root cause, that I was pretty excited about (who does not like good debugging stories?). It's been a very disappointing read however, not because the contents is bad or anything, but because the cases described are not exactly trivial, but not far. I guess that's what happens when investigating crazy stuff has been a large part of your job for decades :-)
I had a good week of running, with 23 km and a change: I plan to do at least one session of interval training per week. I'm starting with easy ones, and am excited to see the effects in the coming months.
Finally, I had a very bad week at GeoGuessr: I played a lot (131 duels) but also very badly (I only won 58...). The net outcome is that I lost almost 120 points of ELO, finished second to last in my group, and got demoted to the Gold I division. I love this game and I think it's awesome, but also that it might be a good time for me to take a little break.
Open source
I did not do that much in SourceHut itself, only sending one change that I need for my mostly-submitted-pending-review work on the project hub GQL API and webhook migration to Go.
I did however work a bit on the ecosystem around, sending a configuration fix to sr.ht-container-compose and making sr.ht.integration-testing's test runner more resilient to issues communicating with Docker (ticket).
I did spend a lot of time working on servo, mostly reading and learning about SVG handling:
