Status Report - Week 2 2026
Real life
The big highlight this week is that we had snow here in the Netherlands, and that it did not melt immediately. To my despair, it had not happened for a few years, so I was really glad :-)

The kids were even lucky to have their Wednesday classes cancelled because of the snow! I doubt folks from Norway or Sweden are reading this, but if so, I'm sure they're (rightfully) laughing at us :-)
I have finished the first tome of La guerre et la paix, continued reading the excellent Les guerres oubliées, and started Pauvre petit blanc, yet another book I heard about either in Le Collimateur or Paroles d'histoire (as a side note, I probably should focus my reading a bit more instead of starting parallel threads :-))
In terms of running, I have not yet broken my goal to run a bit everyday, and ran 28.28 km.
Finally, I had ups and down this week at GeoGuessr, with a catastrophic afternoon where I basically lost all my games, and like 100 ELO points... super frustrating. This got me to put in place "gold rules" for myself, in particular to stop playing for at least 30 minutes as soon as I've lost 3 games. It will probably not change anything in the long run (at my super low level, you can as easily earn 100 ELO points), but I'm sure it will be better for my sanity. In terms of statistics, I won 7 of my 20 "counting games, and 22 out of 50 overall.
Open source
For once, I did not work exclusively on SourceHut, but also on ActualVim, as described in this post. I also sent a patch to restore the "command line" capabilities with recent (>= 0.11) versions of NeoVim.
On the SourceHut front, I submitted:
- A batch of patches to simplify some well spread overly complicated error handling pattern: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
- A patch allowing users to update the tags of their builds. I will use this to track the failure reason of sr.ht-integration-testing daily test runs.
- A patch to hut to allow changing one's notification preferences in todo.sr.ht.
Speaking of sr.ht-integration-testing, I added a test for todo.sr.ht´s setting to get notified of your own updates, and did various "maintenance tickets".
